United States: 176,586 new COVID-19 cases, 3,070 fatalities reported

On Wednesday, the United States reported 176,586 new COVID-19 cases and 3,070 additional fatalities, all of which occurred over the past 24 hours.

In total, the United States has reported 23,554,189 COVID-19 cases and 392,899 coronavirus related fatalities.

The United States reported its first COVID-19 cases on January 20, 2020, after a citizen who had previously traveled to Wuhan, China tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

The United States is currently leading global COVID-19 cases with over 23.5 million infections and 392,899 fatalities, although India trails behind with 10.5 million cases and 151,726 deaths. As for the third-highest caseload and death toll, Brazil follows with 8.2 million cases and 205,964 deaths, Russia with 3.4 million cases and 63,370 deaths, and the United Kingdom with 3.2 million infections and 84,767 deaths.

The novel coronavirus was first discovered in Wuhan, Hubei, China, on Dec. 31, 2019, and has infected more than 91.1 million individuals worldwide, resulting in over 1.9 million fatalities across 218 countries and territories.
