Austria: 1,723 new COVID-19 cases, 66 fatalities reported

On Saturday, Austria reported 1,723 new COVID-19 cases and 66 additional fatalities, all of which occurred over the past 24 hours.

In total, Austria has reported 392,511 COVID-19 cases and 7,053 coronavirus related fatalities.

The first cases of COVID-19 in Austria were reported on 25 February, after two 24-year-olds tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

The United States is currently leading global COVID-19 cases with over 24.1 million infections and 401,868 fatalities, although India trails behind with 10.5 million cases and 152,130 deaths. As for the third-highest caseload and death toll, Brazil follows with 8.3 million cases and 208,291 deaths, Russia with 3.5 million cases and 65,085 deaths, and the United Kingdom with 3.2 million infections and 87,295 deaths.

The novel coronavirus was first discovered in Wuhan, Hubei, China, on Dec. 31, 2019, and has infected more than 94.4 million individuals worldwide, resulting in over 2 million fatalities across 219 countries and territories.
