The United States is currently leading global COVID-19 cases with over 24.2 million infections and 404,302 fatalities, although India trails behind with 10.5 million cases and 152,288 deaths. As for the third-highest caseload and death toll, Brazil follows with 8.4 million cases and 208,542 deaths, Russia with 3.5 million cases and 65,085 deaths, and the United Kingdom with 3.3 million infections and 88,590 deaths.
The novel coronavirus was first discovered in Wuhan, Hubei, China, on Dec. 31, 2019, and has infected more than 94.7 million individuals worldwide, resulting in over 2 million fatalities across 219 countries and territories.
