Britain is set to impose a 14-day quarantine period for virtually all foreign travelers on June 8, said Interior Minister Priti Patel on Friday, with those violating the laws facing a fine of £1,000 ($1,218).
The government said there would be certain exceptions, including road haulage and freight workers, medical professionals traveling to help with the fight against the coronavirus, and those coming from Ireland.
Patel said at the government’s daily news conference:
“Now we are past the peak of this virus, we must take steps to guard against imported cases triggering a resurgence of this deadly disease,”
