Beginning Friday, a two-week lockdown will be in place for businesses across Lebanon under orders from the interior ministry following an increase in COVID-19 infections.

The lockdown will still allow debris removal, rebuilding, and providing assistance in neighborhoods affected by the Beirut blast of August 4. The airport will stay accessible, although travelers will have to take a PCR test before boarding.

The ministry said that during the two-week lockdown, all markets, malls, gyms, pools, and other private businesses would be ordered to close.

Additionally, a curfew will be in effect from 6 pm to 6 am local time, although medical and food sectors, the army, diplomats, and journalists will be exempt from the curfew.
