On Thursday, French health authorities reported 9,843 new coronavirus infections as well as 19 additional fatalities, marking the largest ever single-day increase.
New coronavirus cases have gone up by an average of 7,292 per day since the beginning of September, compared to a 3,003 daily average in August.
The number of hospitalized individuals with COVID-19 is still very far from the numbers achieved in April but continues to put increased pressure on the already suffering healthcare system. The number of patients in intensive in France currently stands at 615.
