The United States is currently leading global COVID-19 cases with over 12.4 million infections and 261,626 fatalities, although India follows closely behind with 9 million cases and 133,260 deaths. As for the third-highest caseload and death toll, Brazil follows with 6 million cases and 168,989 deaths, France with 2.1 million cases and 48,518 deaths, and Russia with 2 million infections and 35,778 deaths.
The novel coronavirus was first discovered in Wuhan, Hubei, China, on Dec. 31, 2019, and has infected more than 58 million individuals worldwide, resulting in over 1.3 million fatalities across 217 countries and territories.
