The United States is currently leading global COVID-19 cases with over 14.3 million infections and 280,989 fatalities, although India follows with 9.5 million cases and 138,946 deaths. As for the third-highest caseload and death toll, Brazil follows with 6.4 million cases and 174,647 deaths, Russia with 2.3 million cases and 41,607 deaths, and France with 2.2 million infections and 53,816 deaths.
The novel coronavirus was first discovered in Wuhan, Hubei, China, on Dec. 31, 2019, and has infected more than 65 million individuals worldwide, resulting in over 1.5 million fatalities across 218 countries and territories.
