Pakistan: 1,947 new COVID-19 cases, 59 fatalities reported

On Tuesday, Pakistan reported 1,947 new COVID-19 cases and 59 additional fatalities, all of which occurred over the past 24 hours.

In total, Pakistan has reported 490,476 COVID-19 cases and 10,409 coronavirus related fatalities.

Pakistan reported its first case of COVID-19 on February 26, 2020, in Karachi.

The United States is currently leading global COVID-19 cases with over 21.3 million infections and 362,123 fatalities, although India trails behind with 10.3 million cases and 149,886 deaths. As for the third-highest caseload and death toll, Brazil follows with 7.7 million cases and 196,591 deaths, Russia with 3.2 million cases and 58,988 deaths, and France with 2.7 million infections and 75,431 deaths.

The novel coronavirus was first discovered in Wuhan, Hubei, China, on Dec. 31, 2019, and has infected more than 86.1 million individuals worldwide, resulting in over 1.8 million fatalities across 218 countries and territories.
